How much of this is related to the natural trend of generations fading into and out of social media platforms?
For example, my generation adopted Facebook and then faded away from it and somehow it was adopted by my parents' generation.
I think we will see this ebb and flow in all platforms and protocols. Once the "next big thing" drops for the Bitcoin community, nostr, too, will be left in the dust and perhaps a minority will stick behind doing whatever they will do.
Disclaimer: I believe that federated protocols will have more success as social media anyway, due to the ability to segregate into defined social communities instead of one giant funnel of slop. I think there is a gossip relay impl for nostr, but haven't seen it used much?
