proper cutting board should have wood fibers perpendicular to surface not parallel
the blade must be able to spread the fibers otherwise it will become dull
your steak is also burned. maybe you should learn to sous vide.

the reason most cutting boards are like yours is because it allows the board to be thinner and thus cheaper.
they know it's the wrong way to do it ... but they also know you're not intelligent enough to figure it out.
they know to mid-wits like Carnivores wood is wood.
it's actually surprising how stupid all of you are compared to me.
you literally can't get anything right.
do you know how fucking dumb your cutting board is ?
it's like if you were holding the knife by the blade and trying to cut with the handle.
