Is it possible to build zap support for Venmo or CashApp? They basically act like Lightning wallets but for fiat.

If there was a custodial service which accepted Venmo or CashApp, you could pay that service and they could zap on your behalf. That's the first idea which comes to mind.

Why not just buy some sats from Robosats with Venmo or CashApp and just use a lightning wallet like Alby or Mutiny?

Normies might be more comfortable adopting value-for-value if they could use familiar apps and currency.

I seem to recall hearing that zaps are just a wrapper around a digital transaction, so there's no reason they have to be sats, per se. I could be wrong, so I'll check the documentation on that.

I'm using Alby now, but CashApp would be an easy recommendation for some people who want to get in on Nostr.

So you can only receive from wallets that provide the email address version of lightning but you can send out from any lightning wallet
