The state is not irrational. The state is debasing your savings to fund wars.

You cant do anything except not hold their money. Most people will hold state money. Hence, I don't think BTC stops wars or state money printing.

Assume it did, though - assume every single citizen dumped all their fiat for BTC. now clearly "the state" isn't going to be doing any defense, since it'll be broke (barring some small btc reserves).

So now individuals and collectives will defend themselves with market-based defenses.... oh i just answered my own question, thanks! "The State" ceases to be an ideological target of enemies because it ceases to exist. Smaller collections of individuals are less likely to be targets of massive external states because they don't pose large threats to them; but even if they are, sovereign, well-resourced collections of anarchocapitalist innovators can defend their smaller footprints quite handily.

Right. And here's where we come into conflict with more "patriotic" minded AnCaps: "America" ceases to exist as a well-defined entity. Which, TBH, I think is a good thing, because it was never that well-defined to begin with.

We can still have "America" the concept, whatever that means to whomever. 10-gallon hats, line dancing, chicken-fried steak, moonshine.... IDK, whatever. States might survive, maybe California, maybe city-States like Chicago or something, assuming they can become economically self-sustaining...

But America the Empire, America the "line on the map".... That's over. And good riddance, quite frankly.

100% agreed.

The "only" downside: the Federal government will fuck those entities up, since citizens are cash-cow hostages that aren't allowed to escape.

If every citizen refuses to hold state money then the state is almost powerless.

I dont think that will ever happen though.

This is not true. 6102 to steal hard money from all the custodial holders. Taxes are still there and people will still comply. Inflation is a small part of the government's funding even in the worst years and could easily be covered by additional taxes. They could also reduce the existing crap services to free up funds for continued shittiness.

You will need to fight in other ways if you want to be free.

In a hypothetical scenario where nobody holds the states money, people are obviously using those other ways to remain free because they have become skeptical of the state.

As I said, its not gonna happen. These are just utopian thought experiments.

There is definitely a world where people abandon the dollar without turning on the state or even being anti war. Look at Peter Todd, a core dev who doesn't get it.

I really hope so.

IMO most people like the government. So if the govt gives them a free CBDC airdrop, they will happily start using it.

you're watching it happen.
