Are converse shoes actually good/comfortable, or is it just more hipster trash?
Discussion
Converse are very narrow at the toe box, and they don’t really form to the foot
Vans are much better in that regard
I wore converse from my early teens until my 50s when I thought I was getting a bit old for that. They are a world classic.
I even went windsurfing in them.
they were good cheap skateboarding shoes in the day, vans were better but also more expensive... i think they have a hipster premium on them these days anyway, and it's probably cheaper and better to buy vans
I wore them before hipsters existed. They were cheap in every sense.
i also think they'll be freezing in winter and roasting in summer, unless you really insulated. No idea what fibreglass is like for temperature / insulation tho, compared to metal canal boats
I thought you were talking about Chuck Taylor Converse. Unless things have really changed, they didn't have fiberglass. They're not good in any cold weather. Plastic bags would offer better insulation.
theyre just cheap, not comfortable, they last a long time tho, i’ve had a pair for 6 years rn
Hmm cheap and durable is v good. But not comfortable you say, as in they take a while to break in, or just never comfortable? suspect they are good for cycling in. (Like casual cycling.)
Hipster trash. Dunlop Volleys are much better and less than half the price.
Never even heard of them. Looks like it's mostly Australian.
Suoerga are meant to be good and always on sale (no idea if that's a bad sign)
That's a shame Volleys haven't made I outside of Australia. They're dirt cheap, really comfortable and they're actually one of the few barefoot shoes that don't look ridiculous.
