I'd have to go with Start9. If on the cheap just use and old laptop of something and throw MyNodeBTC on it for $100.

I second this. On Craigslist or OfferUp you can get a cheap mini PC or an old laptop and put start9 on it. No desserts necessary.

Thanks. I tried installing Embassy OS on my wife's old laptop, but I noticed it didn't have an Ethernet port. What's a decent mini PC? What's the best option with a price that won't give my wife an aneurysm?

For a lightning node I would say anything that has an Intel core i3 or i5 or i7 of any generation would work. Maybe even a Celeron would work. Or any AMD processor from the last 10 ish years.

Whatever you do, you will need a beefy hard drive. Ideally 2tb.

You can also throw Start9 on an old laptop for free, easy

Can you load it on a Mac without a virtual machine?

Yes but not on M1/M2 yet

Do have link to a tutorial I have an old MacBook Pro intel I want to repurpose. I could not find a tutorial online
