Notice how WhatsApp bundles the AI spyware with the completely reasonable “save media” features in a group.
Way lower chance of people turning it off.
Product design used against you.

That is doing the rounds right now! Been sent that by several people
Oh yeah? I hadn’t seen that until this morning when I tried to turn off this shit for a family group.
I worry about this stuff. But not so much that I ever read the small print
It’s designed like that I feel
And hence it’s a surveillance tool
GM!
I have never activated encrypted backups 😑
I was just reading about this. Creepy AF
Huge opportunity to build exits
And it’s off by default. And you need to enable it in any single chat. WhatsApp is absolute garbage.
To be fair, those features are completely useless anyways, if I can download something, I can redirect the path where it is saved, it's not rocket science
Just wow
Zuckerberg is a bad faith actor and it shows with his actions regarding WhatsApp and Snapchat
He’s been like this for two decades since Harvard
This feature doesn't make any sense to me. What does e2e encryption have to do with how someone is allowed to use the data after they decrypt it? This is like websites that attempt to disable right click
Is Meta AI reading my group chats even if nobody "mentions" it?
Obviously one is "leak all our chat to some corporate server for analysis" and the other is "store stuff you see on your device", so they should be treated differently. Even "export chat" would allow you to run a local AI on the chat.
Let’s make #privacy cool again 🤙⚡️

Thanks for sharing!
I bet this never would have happened if the original founders of whatsapp never sold it
Unfortunately thats not the reality we live in
I couldn’t find this option on the version I’m running. What version is this?
Wonder if maybe it’s only being rolled out in specific jurisdictions.
