Fun fact. Nixon had a plan to produce 1000 nuclear power plants by 2000. This would have given us 200% of our 2022 energy needs.
Discussion
interesting. global nuclear plants have been shut down since Japan incident. maybe something like nuclear are too monstrous for human to handle
every time, it has been a multi-level failure of the enforcement of safety systems.
broken safety systems were ignored, design was done to lower standards than reasonably expected at the time, etc.
no one has implemented the policy of regular checking, and halting operation even if there is a tiny issue
sometimes i wonder the only way to avoid apocalypses like nuclear, bioweapon etc is to decentralize everything.
but in the meantime, is it really good to open source nuclear bombs to everyone
imagine how great our economy would be and how affordable the cost of living would be, so that young families need not worry about population collapse, and then be told that billionaires with coveted genetic information profiles will compensate for this lack of productivity by effectively dissolving the sacrament of marriage into a egg-hatching business.
the women now have a child born to a man who will spend less than a week or months with each of them, if that, potentially for the child's entire life, and the women are husbandless.
I find that to be tragic.
hopefully the power need for ai will push them to build these sooner
Nixon was far beyond his time ..a true genius .. by unpegging dollar from gold , he unleashed the free market .. and if his energy agenda got implemented world was saved from all wars middle East .. and beyond !
Errrr. I’ll agree maybe evil genius but he launched the petrodollar and robbed several generations of Americans from their earned incomes. Not a respectable guy at all
Robbed Americans ??? How ? Aren't Americans' the richest nation on earth ?
Yeah, Boomers for sure. But GenX will continue to delay retirement. But if you’re a millennial or zoomer, you are broke, under employed, and can’t afford a house. Not exactly crushing it, global or not
I guess most people don't understand how boomers became rich .. being one of them , I can tell you we weren't born with silver spoons .. we worked harder than any of .. .. and got rich ... So will be the gen zees and future gens .. every one has their fight .. besides the fact that America is literally under large transfer of wealth .. ever
Btw ..visit rural India , China to see real poverty .. not even talk about Africa ..
It’s not that you didn’t work incredibly hard. It’s that the petrodollar system was rigged to rob the next generations until there’s nothing left to steal (which is where we’re at now).
I encourage you to read Broken Money and Check Your Financial Privilege.
We can do this better now on a bitcoin standard.
Sir - I have read Broken Money and Bitcoin standard ! .. but my contention is Petro Dollar has made America rich .. it may be bad for the rest of the world .. but Americans amassed so much wealth . .. proof is in the pudding ..
On the other hand , Bitcoin standard is a sure way to glut global economy ... Bitcoin is apex asset , but if we try to peg fiat to any asset ( gold or BTC) it is going back into the past ..
Because a Fiat system ( free from Gold ) is the basis of free market ... Cuz now you can exchange your fiat IOUs for the asset you like .. maty be BTC or RE or a yatch ... If I give you dollar pegged to gold ( or BTC) , then I already made a default choice for you .. you know , no one ever changes default apps on iPhone :-) at least normies dont
And what would we do with the radioactive waste?
Store it deep underground, like this https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/sweden-starts-building-100000-year-storage-site-spent-nuclear-fuel-2025-01-15/
There's a lot of malinvestment on the offer and demand side of energy industry. Sound money will fix it, it's already happening.
It looks like he brought that plan with him to China and with some delay that's more or less what they are doing right now. Numbers adjusted of course.
I'd rather start build more modern ones now include SNRs. overcapacity wastes capital investment
Woulda been a hell of a mining farm. 🤙
