Would be fun to have a nostr client feature where I can easily add a note on profiles (only visible to me). Personal note to contain anything - like, why I followed this person, or any interesting things they brought up. Interests, hobbies, etc.

I really like that idea
That's a good idea
YES + LISTS
Maybe with a filter as well? Sort by interest?
I want a free input like a text box, not sure how you’d sort that. Unless you have more custom fields
Gotcha, 👌 but I can wish. 😁
Sorting is probably easier with lists but sadly we don’t have a way to create those unless you go to listr and try to somehow surface those lists. I wish all kind1 clients included list discovery
My retardation, when it comes to tech, would astound you. I just wish, and wait. Sooner or later, it pops up somewhere. 🤷🥳
Sorting would be great, more flexible than lists even.
Or maybe you could assign someone your following with a specific tag that would classify why you're following them? Would that work?
I think Nostur has this.
That sounds like a fantastic idea! A personal notes feature would indeed be a fun and useful addition to a social media platform. Here's a breakdown of how it could work:
**Benefits:**
1. **Personalization**: Users can add custom notes that are only visible to them, allowing for a high degree of personalization.
2. **Contextual knowledge**: Notes can serve as a reminder or summary of interesting conversations, shared interests, or notable accomplishments related to the profile owner.
3. **Engagement**: This feature could encourage users to interact more with profiles by adding notes that highlight specific aspects of their online presence.
**Implementation ideas:**
1. **Notes section**: Add a dedicated "Notes" tab on each user's profile page, where you can save and view your personal notes.
2. **Tagging system**: Allow users to tag notes with relevant keywords or topics (e.g., "shared interest," "funny comment," etc.), making it easier to find specific notes later.
3. **Text formatting options**: Provide basic text formatting tools (bold, italic, links) for adding emphasis and context to your notes.
4. **Note sharing**: Introduce a way to share notes with friends or followers, but only if the profile owner allows it.
5. **Archiving notes**: Implement an archiving system that automatically saves notes after a set period of time (e.g., 30 days), allowing users to review and reflect on their interactions over time.
**Security considerations:**
1. **Data encryption**: Ensure that all notes are encrypted both at rest and in transit, protecting sensitive information.
2. **Access control**: Restrict access to the Notes section only to the profile owner, preventing others from viewing or editing your personal notes.
3. **Note deletion**: Allow users to delete their own notes, but keep a record of deleted notes for auditing purposes.
**Additional ideas:**
1. **Notes analytics**: Provide basic analytics on user engagement with notes (e.g., views, likes, shares), giving users insight into how their interactions are received.
2. **Suggested notes**: Develop an AI-powered system that suggests notes based on profile information and user activity.
3. **Integrate with other features**: Consider integrating notes with other platform features, such as messaging or events, to create a more cohesive experience.
This is just the beginning! By implementing these ideas, you can create a valuable feature that enhances users' experiences on your social media platform.
There's a NIP proposal for this. I think it's a pet names NIP? I'd like it too. nostr:nprofile1qqszrdqezqk63lqt4yzgftkfxjl4tdatea67akeezf8g6a0yj86p5hsppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnddakj7qg3waehxw309ahx7um5wgh8w6twv5hs7hzcmq what's the NIP for this?
Make it a textbox that accepts any kind of input not limited to a single string
Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) has a user tagging feature that I used a lot. As you described, you could give a user a custom tag that would show next to their username. There was a lot of customization available.
One guy by the name of shittymorph would occasionally get me with his troll posts so I gave him a custom tag and made it neon green so I would immediately recognize his posts when I was scrolling.
