After a couple weeks of trying to find worms for our worm hotel, I found some locally...in the horse poop compost.

Me and mini me (or him and big him), spent a couple hours turning compost and fishing for worms. (The irony is not lost on me)

We got two little buckets and will get some more this afternoon. Plus we had a blast.

Horse poop is the perfect medium for worms.

You didn't need that fabrill.

Awesome for you to have this resource, get that worm bin going!

I realized that afterwards. Hopefully it doesn't hurt.

You're gonna do great 🤟

How many worms you reckon we should put in there?

I'd say all of em then get another bin ready, harvest & multiply.

We put all those. Just wondering if we should take the time to get more for that bin.

Nice job!

One strategy you could use if you have to go back for more is to put wet cardboard on the surface, leave it for a couple days, and see if that concentrates the worms some.

I may also try some molasses in water or dousing some shredded cardboard in molasses water solution to attract them faster.

Interesting.

Cut the end off of a banana and put into the pile. Worms will pile in.

I will try that

Love that your kiddo is getting such great experience in the outdoors/dirt/etc. 🙂 Less screens, more streams! 😄
