Here's the deal, everyone: if you want to continue to live in a free society, and not he controlled by the whims of some foreign autocrat, here's a list of things you should do:

1. Do not rely on foreign autocrats for energy and critical supply chains.

That's it. That's the whole list.

It’s hard. But doable

But be careful because autocrats can be born everywhere...

Yup! Electrified transportation + nuclear/solar/wind/hydro power generation will mean a huge kneecapping to the revenue coming in to shitheads like Saudi Arabian royals and Russian autocrats. Few things would bring me more joy than seeing Saudi Arabia lose its cash cow.

And don't just swap out the one in the east for the one in the west.

Explain how receiving energy imports from any country, autocratic or not, influences your domestic political system.

Because they can blackmail you by threatening to cut you off if you do something they don’t like?

So the government is compelled by outside forces to encroach on your freedoms? The issue i have with those arguments is that they allow people to draw a bridge between the internal polical process and foreign relations: "The Russians stole Hilldawgs presidentcy!". This plays into uncle sams hands who is always horny for war making him able to sell you back your freedom in exchange for foreign interventions and possibly war.

You seem to be constructing what is referred to as a "straw man argument", here.

What im trying to say is that its highly likely that your biggest enemy is in your capital and not in another country.

"continue to live in a free society" πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

which planet are you from?

The one where you are now on my mute list.

It's wild to me to hear politicians hinting at the possibility of armed conflict with China over Taiwan in the name of "national security", when by "national security" they really just mean the ability of US corps to use global labor arbitrage to get cheap silicon for their products so they can maximize their profits. Like, if Apple, Google, etc need Taiwanese silicon to keep their companies in the black, then they can feel free to send security forces over there. Don't ask me to help pay for it.

So incredibly true

It's already not a free society anymore, that much is obvious

Independence is great but when you are rushing headlong into emulating their govts as well, what does it matter?
