I remember buying #OJC records in the mid 1980s. It was an economical way to get out-of-print classics. Now, Craft Recordings is slowly releasing the catalog as a fairly premium audiophile product - remastered by Kevin Gray on 180 g - with a price of $39.

Records in 1985 cost about $7-$10. An inflation calculator tells me that's $19.85-$28.36 in today's dollars.

I understand the new series is higher quality, but I would love a non-premium option for $20 or $25. #vinyl #jazz

I know there's a little "goose that killed the golden egg" thing going on with these companies, but at the same time, I do want them to make enough money to find it worth remastering, re-cutting and booking good pressing companies... and we can continue to crate dig for the older ones to economize.
