nostr:npub12fj74u0xcjarft8rmf82weu0ays4utlytjjvtyrc55gg6a6vlp7semgka7 It'd be nice...but at the same time...80s pressings weren't great. And these re-releases are awfully nice in most cases. I know there's a little "goose that killed the golden egg" thing going on with these companies, but at the same time, I do want them to make enough money to find it worth remastering, re-cutting and booking good pressing companies... and we can continue to crate dig for the older ones to economize.

nostr:npub1fq5n4rmpw4utt792v8fhv4cp8rmg79fyqlcdws9kxeaq5pkjwcysaep8du Yes, just wishful thinking on my part that there could be some "good enough" represses for the cheapskates like me. And high school and college kids who don't have the $$ but still want to listen on vinyl. I'm probably delusional in thinking that maybe some kid takes a chance on an album and opens a whole new world and we get another jazz fan. I know these companies are targeting a different audience. But same, I want them to have incentive to keep going!

I remember buying #OJC records in the mid 1980s. It was an economical way to get out-of-print classics. Now, Craft Recordings is slowly releasing the catalog as a fairly premium audiophile product - remastered by Kevin Gray on 180 g - with a price of $39.

Records in 1985 cost about $7-$10. An inflation calculator tells me that's $19.85-$28.36 in today's dollars.

I understand the new series is higher quality, but I would love a non-premium option for $20 or $25. #vinyl #jazz
