How many people do you think used bitcoin for the first time when they joined nostr? 10k? 100k?

17.

Less than 100

Hbyy?

Damn that is mega bearish. Haha I was thinking somewhere in between 10k - 100k ish.

Why do you think that?

There’s over 8 million Nostr profiles with lightning addresses. There’s been over 4 million zaps. We’ve had a few huge bumps of new users that came to nostr and a lot of those people were new to bitcoin. I spent a lot of time monitoring zap event data. That’s just a few reasons.

I'd love to see some more data on that.

1. 8 million distinct ln addresses? If not, it would be fun to see a graph over the account clusters using the same ln address.

2. How many of those nostr profiles has been active more than e.g. a couple of days, weeks, months?

3. How many could be considered bots?

1. I highly doubt it’s unique addresses. I got the number from nostr.band.

2. Probably a small fraction have been active for more than a few days, but that’s long enough to receive their first zap.

3. A lot.

Where's this data?

https://stats.nostr.band and i feel the data in my bones 😂

I’m sure nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg has a lot of data too because of their caching server. They post some stats on their explore page. Would be awesome if they posted more.

Probably at least 10%

Used Bitcoin? As in layer 1??

Few.

No as in downloaded a wallet and received or sent a zap

That's probably not what I would consider as using Bitcoin for the first time.

Probably closer to experiencing the power of lightning applications, such as zaps.

About 3.50

Bruh you guys are a bunch of beras 😂

it'll be millions soon 😊

dozens

Yes.

Bout tree fiddy

If they're anything like me, not many.

Nostr made almost no sense to me until I reached full/lightning node operator status. The legwork of linking a random lightning wallet to a random social media client was asking too much (not to even mention key management). That or it KYC'd me too hard and fast as an all-in-one for me to find it appetizing.

Nostr became self evident as I became self sovereign and the tools that facilitate smooth usage opened up to me.
