I wanted to set up Standard Notes as it was a recommendation I got on an asknostr question.

But, as it turns out, they have an Offline subscription thing you have to pay for to use all "premium features".

What in the fucking hell? x.x I just want a self-hosted Notion or Obsidian! I tried Trillium, Joplin, NextCloud Notes and they all ended up with caveats... But I do not want to store this sensitive stuff on a random AWS server connected to by some app - I want it on my own server.

Standard Notes just downloaded ~4GB of Docker containers. FOUR GIGABYTES! And yet I STILL have to pay a price if I want all the features?? Not being needy at all, are we...

Also I looked at Obsidian because someone at work mentioned it, and it doesn't seem to be self-hostable. ugh...

All I want is an overkill note taking application with notes, attachments, embeds, tocs, folders, tags. Personal knowledge management, wikistyle stuff...

Guess im back digging :/

Apparently, their sync is in alpha...

I roam between Android and two Windows maschines a lot, which is why I would love to have something I can selfhost and then share across all my devices. I even have my own VPN, so I don't even have to make it publicy available. But I do definitively need something I can drop on my server - in Docker - then leave running and take notes on my various ends. When i get the chance to use my PC or laptop, I want to be able to "make it nice" and such.

Logseq looks great, mind you. But if I can not host it on my server, or control how things are shared, it's a bit of a problem...

What was the problem with nextcloud notes? Did you try nextcloud deck too?

Very frequent crashes and it would not sync reliabley, sadly.

Never tried Deck though.

Okay. I never had this issue with Nextcloud Notes.

Had a strange issue with News that wouldn't sync but since the V12 this is solved too.

Decks is great. But it could be that you have other requirements then I have.

Lol, that's insane
