When people see cool passport designs they want one too… this is a form of normalization through design. Instead of seeing it for what it is - a control tool that restricts movement, tracks and collects data, you see pretty lines and pictures. It’s not a weird dystopian control system, it’s a pretty little booklet. Design normalizes obedience and reinforces control.

The same with their money. It’s a way to legitimize what might otherwise be questioned.

Are you saying the new EUR note design is ugly?

This is worth more than its digital counterpart coming soon to a brain chip _very_ near you!

It is and I'll have to give you a raincheck on the chip thing 😉

😅

I once crossed the border between BiH and Croatia via train without a valid passport and got to see my first kalashnikov

It reminds me of Knights of the Golden Circle. They were a pro-slavery pro-confederacy Masonic order that had all these beautiful aesthetics and symbolism. I imagine when inducting foot soldiers they had similarly well designed "UX". But the underlying motive was steep hierarchy, control and suppression of the human spirit through bondage.
