Fiat brains: "But Bitcoin has no real utility."

Me: "#Bitcoin is decentralized, secure, neutral, permissionless, energy money."

Fiat brains: "Yeah, but what does it DO?"

Me: "lol"

Oh, it just monies on monetarily...

Exactly. What’s the intrinsic value of the USD?

But I can’t hold it!

It’s the “but it’s used for crime” comment that triggers me the most

Crimes like buying raw milk, seeds, and meat from neighbors.

Fiat brains: "Yeah, but what does it DO?"

“Besides everything I just said, it DOES keep value over long time horizons👋”

'But it isn't real money'

“Buying an Amazon gift card right now, would you like a gift card of $50?”

I started buying Bitcoin in 2017. It didn't DO anything.

I kept buying in 2018, 19, 20 and it still didn't DO anything.

Same in 21, 22 and 23... again, it didn't DO anything.

In 24, largely thanks to Bitcoin, I stepped away from my corporate life and I started to DO (different) things.

Exactly. 🍻

🍻

Followed.

Oh man I HAVE to follow you…

Congrats Duro, I’m a year behind you and stacking hard so 2025 can be my turn. Your success is my encouragement. Cheers!

Congratulations 🎉🎉

On path of leaving corporate job in 2025. My future plans are

Spread awareness about a bitcoin

Build a small business

Hopefully give employment to few

Explore new places

Relax and Enjoy life..

congratulations, that could have been me, but was too naive. good to be here now tho!

A friend of mine who is looking to buy several rental properties with cash he has sitting idle told me the other day when I suggested he buy some Bitcoin, “You can’t live in a Bitcoin”

🤷‍♂️

Nor is he going to live in any of the rental properties he buys. In the meantime he has limited liquidity, house insurance, repairs, seriously annoying tenants who trash the place because it’s not theirs, tax reporting obligations, KYC etc etc. If this friend of yours was any dumber he’d be Gomer Pyle.

It’s still seen as “magic internet money” that you can’t see or touch with massive volatility to the majority of people unfortunately. Real Estate is still the best way to store wealth in their opinions because it’s tangible and has utility value while also throwing off cash. Some are starting think deeply about what it is they are after when buying these rental properties, and realize that Bitcoin is a better option. Explaining the dematerialization of things like Blockbuster, music CDs, Gold, Books, and now property seems to resonate with a few. Slow process, but we’re getting there.

Real estate is very Lindy.

I just say that it's money the government cannot censor, confiscate, or print more of. I would use the word debase but many people don't know what that means.

They certainly don't know what decentralized means, or secure (my back account is secure right?) or neutral.. and wtf is energy money.

It's really about speaking to them in a language they understand.

🤣🤣🤣

At least there is a chance thru your window to get them some orange Medicine.

The fact that it doesn’t “do” anything is the ‘killer app’.

It doesn’t pilfer from me to fund vicious, partisan offenses.

When your bank is closed or your account has been frozen (frozen) and you have to pay a bill, come back and tell me bitcoin has no utility. 🫡🙌

What is this thing called “bills” that so many speak of?

My bad, actually Bylls, https://www.bullbitcoin.com/payments

None of my bills take #Bitcoin.

Bitrefill and Bill’s from nostr:npub18ull0tdnj9vugtq259k48szg80al44ta7g4fa85nvj3svaq7kt8s9udcl9 are at least helping with this, add in a little circular economy, one day you’ll have no fiat bills. 🫡

I'm a true believer. It's just early to be making such arguments. Until "some day" comes many of the Bitcoin rich may find themselves in the lurch.

Good point, but the value of transacting outside the fiat system is not insignificant, now. Even if it is not ubiquitous, yet, not having the option or skills is a big risk for those people who see no value in it.

Build the parallel economy now.
