Religious organizations are tax exempt entities. Individual members are not tax exempt.

That’s fair. What about insular religious communities and their economic activity..?
In either case, the classification as a religion might offer significant legal protections that don’t currently exist.

It would cause more hurdles for bitcoin adoption than it would provide benefits. You have to qualify under 501(c)(3) as a tax exempt church, org, or entity & you have to apply to the IRS for the tax exempt status. Good luck meeting these listed requirements:
