nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm this is the second or third time I've gotten this email - what's the deal here?

I thought the whole reason why I'm paying a monthly fee for the Cloud service is so I don't have to constantly manage this stuff

I got the same thing from Alby today… would love if someone from the nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm team can clarify if you need to constantly have Hub open and actively logged in/open in a browser to receive payments… didn’t see this in the FAQ but perhaps I missed it. I should probably watch the nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 tutorial on it.

We sent out an email to cloud subscribers on Monday to give you two days notice that an update was required and you could update beforehand to avoid disruption.

Unfortunately in rare cases there are urgent updates that we must do, and that requires unlocking afterwards. We hope this should decrease in frequency going forward - Alby Cloud is still a new product.

Because it is a lightning node running in the cloud, it must be unlocked after an update so it can start the node. You don’t need the browser open - just for Alby Hub to be unlocked.

We plan to add an option to disable automatic updates of important security updates. But also, if you have any suggestions on how we can improve, please let us know!

You do NOT need to have the hub open in your browser and you do NOT need to be logged in there.

The node runs, you can close the browser.

BUT: if an update needs to be installed or if the node needs to be restarted you need to unlock it with your password by logging in once.

In this case you should have gotten an email that you should update your hub (which is a click of a button and then the unlock) and that an update will automatically be deployed after a few days.

I hope this explains it?

No, you don't need to constantly unlock your Hub or keep it open. That's the benefit of the Alby Cloud service.

In this specific case we sent an email to inform about a necessary update on Monday. After an update and a restart the Hub needs to be unlocked. The update was done on Wednesday. That's why you received this email.

Going forward we try to keep required updates to a minimum so that you can decide when to update and unlock the Hub.

You should not needs to constantly manage stuff for sure.

Once in a while when an update must be deployed you need to enter the password to unlock your node. This is because all data and keys are encrypted and are only accessible to you.
