I don't know if feminine or boyish is right term. Perhaps EGO beards would be more appropriate. Beards that are there because they are more convenient than shaving, keep you warm, keep down shaving bumps. I don't see an issue having a beard that practical and well kept but if you spend more time on your beard than your hair or brushing your teeth it might be an ego beard. I believe that real men fight the ego driven things in their life or at least admit it.
Ego dude = insecure dude = feminine dude.
It's all the same thing. Masculinity is modest because modesty is high security state.
