Some plans for 2026, if all goes well

Sounds like the kind of thing Apple’s Lawyers Pile On and Bend You Over for

How will this work? Web based apps?
I can not comprehend how freedom consciousness people use Apple devices?
🫣
It's a nuanced subject. Apple is superior to Google in some respects.
This 100%
And GrapheneOS isn’t quite there yet for day to day use.
Banking apps don’t work all the time (unless everyone adopts #Bitcoin , it’s a necessary evil), support for Chinese or Japanese keyboards is either horrible or nonexistent, and geolocation for navigation is horrible (yes I try to navigate without it but it’s useful for unfamiliar places especially in cities like #Tokyo #Hongkong or #Bangkok )
I've been daily driving it for over a year. It's truly great for all my needs.
I agree, it's a great daily driver.
I hear a lot of people mentioning bank apps... are those really necessary? I access bank stuff via web and use a plastic card if need be
My bank apps work fine on Graphene. I really only use them for depositing checks. You likely need to use the sandboxed google play services from an alt profile but they work. Most bank apps have more problems with you using a VPN than anything.
They are unless we have moved to a bitcoin standard.
In the ideal world a bitcoin and English standard
Also Air Tags and the network effect of them. They are useful for those who are nomadic/homeless
It is in some respects, yes.
But not in the freedom it gives you to do with your device whatever you want.
And we're talking about freedom here. Not about convenience or user experience. Freedom.
They hate google more than Apple.
Graphene OS is not ready for day to day use yet.
Then they care more about feelings than about freedom.
🤷
Personally, it's Graphene first, iOS distant second. I would not use stock Android.
yes I would if banking apps actually worked properly (some don't like stock android which is a big no no for me). That and the ability to be able to search for stuff in Japanese and Chinese when in #HongKong or #Tokyo
Apple Pay + 2fiat.com works so nice too. Next time I'm in Japan I'll use it to fill my Suica card. All cashless but with #NoKYC
Fair enough 🫂
Apple sucks
This sounds like a terrible waste of time and effort. Apple users do not want to be saved despite their cries. Their actions show you who they are.
I switched back to Apple because of the poor geolocation support for navigation, and also the language support for Chinese, Japanese is horrible.
Also more emojis.
Speaking from experience with GrapheneOS.
I would never use a non Graphene OS android. I prefer Apple over Google.
I have no issues on Graphene with geo support and don't need chinese, agree it is clearly not as polished as iOS
Non-Graphene Android is also out of the question for me.
you can get shared developer certificate for $25 for lifetime, No KYC. The are many resellers and obviously it is not legal from Apple's perspective.
I have been using it for last 2 years to sideload cracked apps on iPhone
That is interesting, I had no idea. Technically, we will only ask you to sign in with Apple. Where you get the account from is up to you.
🔥
wen desktop? 👀
This looks really interesting
Any traction so far? What as the genesis for creating this?
There's demand for it (see AltStore who just raised $6M) and I think we can deliver a superior UX.
We'll keep this loophole approach as the base and attempt to leverage the Alternative Marketplaces feature in supported jurisdictions - EU, Japan and growing.
This is in ideation phase and needs to complete a proof of concept.
Awesome! Keep going!
why do I need an Apple Developer account to use it?
We (on your behalf) would need to request Apple to sign certificates for installing any app onto your device. Regular/free accounts are useless as they are limited to 3 apps that expire after 7 days, not the case with a developer account.
So... is the discovered loop-hole here with iOS is that paid subscribers to Apple would able to access Zapstore and download/install whatever native app, without zapstore being properly published on iOS?
If you mean not published on App Store that is correct, it's based on the AltStore Classic approach but re-engineered with different tradeoffs to deliver a better UX. Need to start work on the PoC
