Dear Nostr community! I have a serious question regarding Bitcoin. I would consider myself a well informed critical thinker and I keep hearing voices, especially here on Nostr, that Bitcoin can be a major building block of a better world order, where no single individual or organisation holds too much power. But there is one big question mark in my mind regarding, that no one really was able to clarify plausibly. I read that 18 Mio BTC are already issued and only 3 Mio more will be issues in the coming 100 years. This leads me to the assumption that there is an accumulation of power that might last generations, and give some living indivisuals or organizations nearly unlimited ressources, and I have no clue who they are and if they are any better than those who have the keys to the money presses, now. Whenever I post questions about this publicly I get ignored or even ghosted. So I'd like to have your stance on this issue. Thanks and have a nice day/night!

Hallo Peter, ich bin durch deinen netten Morgengruß auf diese Frage gestoßen und mochte meine Einschätzung dazu hinterlassen. Deine Frage ist absolut berechtigt. Man kann schon an den Reaktionen der Anderen merken, dass das so ist. Es verängstigt die Jünger und verärgert die Götter.
Eine bessere Weltordnung ist eine Hoffnung, die berechtigt ist, wenn sie eine gerechtere Welt meint. Bitcoin könnte dazu einen Beitrag leisten, wenn er von allen akzeptiert würde. Das allein ist schon illusorisch. In gescheiterten Staaten und Finanzsystemen kann Bitcoin helfen, die Wirtschaft unter den Menschen in Gange zu halten. Er schafft Unabhängigkeit und Freiheit im weltweiten Handeln. Vom Ende her betrachtet ist jetzt die beste Zeit für die Menschen Bitcoin zu nutzen. Aber niemand sollte auf die auch auf #nostr propagierte Illusion hereinfallen, dass Bitcoin eine bessere Welt erschaffen kann oder dass dies mit Bitcoin möglich wäre.
Organisationen und private Akteure mit riesigen Beständen habe ein großes Interesse daran, Bitcoin als neue Hoffnung an die Menschen zu verkaufen. Sie wünschen sich eine Bitcoin-Religion, an, die die Menschen glauben. Es macht die Wale reicher und mächtiger. Banken und Staaten gehen kaputt und private Akteure übernehmen. Wenn die Geldhoheit nicht mehr bei den Staaten läge, wäre das aber eine Katastrophe. Bitcoin wird auf lange Sicht die Ungleichheit verstärken und bringt schon jetzt nichts Gutes, wenn man an den Einsatz der generierten Gelder denkt. Der Zulauf von immer neuen Jüngern beschert einigen Wenigen schon jetzt immer neue Geldmittel, die sie zum Teil auch für Geschenke wie #nostr einsetzen. So können neue Investoren gewonnen werden.
Ich meine, Vorsicht bei der Nutzung von Bitcoin. #nostr nur in dem Rahmen nutzen, in dem man es auch verstanden hat. Was kann #nostr, wer kann ein Interesse daran haben, dass es so etwas gibt? Wer hatte das Geld für die Entwicklungskosten? Wer nutzt beknackte Idealisten, Rechtsesoteriker, und autistische Hacker als neue Kundengruppen aus, nachdem der #bitcoin am Absaufen war.
Das alles ist etwas ungeordnet, aber ich hoffe das Wesentliche kommt rüber.
Noch etwas. Ich freue mich über die Gemeinschaft der Bitcoin und Lightning Anhänger. Denn alles, was Gemeinschaft schafft, ist erst einmal positiv zu bewerten. Doch schon jetzt werden deren Anhänger schamlos ausgenutzt, um reales Geld zu generieren. In #nostr werden sie wie Laborratten gehalten und überwacht. Wem gehören die freien Relays, wer überwacht sie und warum, sind die großflächigen Störungen bei privaten Bezahl-Relays Zufall? Bitcoin und #nostr sind in den Händen von Entitäten, die einen Scheiß auf die Menschen geben, sie unterliegen nicht der Kontrolle staatlicher Instanzen, ethischer Kontrollgremien usw. Mach dir klar: Lightning ist nicht Bitcoin und es wäre ohne #nostr ebenfalls längst abgesoffen.
Die Kombination von Lightning und #nostr ist ein interessantes Spielzeug, das soll es ja auch sein. Es wird auch in Zukunft fantastische Möglichkeiten bieten. Ein geniales Konzept, dem man sich nicht entziehen kann. Und teuflisch dazu.

Notice how you make an obvious point that the king is naked, and the people here continue to say how wonderful his clothes are.
Yeah, the only point to bitcoin for the people here is to try to become the new banking class (anyone here who says they want to make humanity better with bitcoin is a hypocrite and a liar). That's why everyone is more interested in "HODL" instead of actually making it a viable alternative to the dollar.
Nobody is making more 1990 Chambertin Grand Crus, ‘57 Chevys, or Van Gogh paintings, either. Everyone is born into this world with nothing (except what their parents give them). We build our own personal wealth by producing things that others value, and trading them for things that we value. The fact that Bitcoin has a mining limit doesn’t change the situation.
your little „exception“ makes the game highly injust though. a petty that bitcoin will not be able to solve that. true value 4 value would mean that *everybody* in the system created more or less the same value for their value. but anyways… our world is not perfect and never was…

Like Microstrategy owning 1 out of every 150 out there, that kind of extreme ratio sounds like a problem. Will Microstrategy birth a society of benevolent Meths? Does it matter?

Ahh, sorry, Microstrategy is the company Michael Saylor cofounded. Meths are the ultra rich in the cyberpunk novel Altered Carbon.
What can we do about it? Probably not much other than be honest with ourselves, take a hard look in the mirror, make sure we’re doing what we do for the right reasons for our situation, keep talking honestly, etc.

Thanks for the info. I totally agree. At some point we will have to acknowledge that there is no singular solution to all problems, and we have to continue doing our best to make it better!
