Some of religion is actually based in physics and math. Hinduism for example has the concept of Veda (knowledge) teachings that delve into sound resonance and the tuning of the mind to nature. This is actually based in physics - the resonance of microtubules in neurons. There is a quantum component to all of it which is super fascinating. I am currently down this rabbit hole so I don’t know much and probably sound like an idiot trying to describe it.

Some also postulate that it is the collapse of long microtubule chains that gives rise to consciousness.

Wait until you discover Abhidhamma

Tldr; ?

Incredibly detailed description of perception and relationship between mind and matter, with accordance to modern cognitive psychology

Cool I’ll have to look into it. Any place in particular I should start? Does it delve into quantum physics at all?

I don’t think so. I really liked this book, but might be a bit dense for a first touch with Buddhism literature, its academic https://wisdomexperience.org/product/the-theravada-abhidhamma/

At a quick glance this seems very much in line with various aspects of quantum mechanics.

I am personally very wary of trying to bring quantum to psychology/spirituality. There’s too much woo in that and most who do this don’t understand physics at all and just do some simple connections because some of the vocabulary/metaphors used in quantum seem similar to those from religions. The leap is just too great and I’ve never seen a serious, deep and successful attempt to do this. But I also don’t feel a need to find this connection

The guy in the video I linked makes that connection. Maybe not seriously but says they are remarkably similar.

I’ll check it out

Prompted it a bit and indeed seems to draw from quantum properties.

My guess is whoever came up with it took some shrooms and had an out of body experience 🤣

The dawn of physics started with philosophers. I suspect in the end, it will come full-circle.

But I do agree the muddled stuff is annoying, many-worlds arguments in particular. Keep the multiverse in Rick and Morty. :-)

putting this on my daylight for future me

We are the universe, the laws of physics expressed. These laws of physics feel divine, crafted to trigger the emergence of consciousness. To think quantum entanglement and “electrostatic” forces are holding so many proteins and receptor complexes together. Cells being circular along with planets and suns is peculiar too... as above, so below.

Hesignburg said you’ll find God at the bottom of the glass of science. He said it due to the unpredictability of quantum mechanics, implying some higher power… but even if predictability does finally come to quantum mechanics, I think he was still right about that quote given how orderly stellar orbits and cell mechanisms are.

I got clued in to this from a video about consciousness so I haven’t read anything yet. But there are remarkable connections between all of the strange phenomena we don’t fully understand.
