Nostr Web Client

To "boost" or "broadcast" a note are two very underrated toole on Nostr.

On other social platforms algos make some post more visible so they got not totally lost in timeline.. here it can happen The best Note just is not seen by the majority because bad time, or problems with relays connection etc..

On Nostr there is an "Algo", the best and biggest ever: YOU. Nostriches are the Algo.. we choose what notes should be more visible or not.

Use your power wisely.. 🔄 is like a ⚡

On amethyst at least, for every note, if you click the 3 dot on the right it will open a menu with the options to "copy note" "copy text" etc.. ther is one called "broadcast" that broadcast the note you are reading to your relays also.

Boost is just the nostr version of "retweet" 🔄

Ok thanks. On Damus App Store version there is this 🔁 under the post which I think is the equivalent to boost.

And if you hold the post, a menu shows up and has one button 🌐 “send”. This could be the broadcast? Can someone confirm? Can’t change damus settings to english so I can’t check myself and I guess it’s just poorly translated.

Broadcast is the same on Amethyst. If I read it right it just pushes that message to all of your relays, broadening the reach of that message.

algos should stay out of the protocol, but i do think we'll see clients play around and test algos. which might be OK if they are open source and you know how they actually work AND pick and choose which ones you want to try.

I agree. Users should have the power to 'Opt In' to the algo that suits the preferences of their ideal feed. If on a monday I want a pure feed of who posted what, in the order that it was posted I should be able to use one client. If on tuesday I want to see different things and I want to see an algorithm that will mix in new and different content I should be able to hop over to a different client! PV⚡

Boost are underrated. Sometimes a boost 🔄 is even more valuable than a zap ⚡ because with your boost that note will reach much more users and increase its network effect and possibility to be see and zapped. A single boost or "quote note" from the right account can be a game changer for some Nostrich.. pura vida 🫂🍀☯️

For what I understood.. When you brodcast a note you are reading, you just broadcast it to all the realays you are connected to, it's not like when you boost or quote a note.

I think there will be a wide variety of relays and clients running different algorithms as people experiment with all of this stuff. Of course there will always be the “no algo” option, but algos are not inherently bad, we just need them to be transparent.
