What are the implications of profile only zaps? Besides the extra steps needed to complete a Zap, this cripples the entire Zap experience because Damus users that choose to profile Zap will not have those Zaps counted towards the individual note's tally. The value of a note will be perceived less than it's true value. The note creator will no longer be able to have a live indicator of which of their pieces of content is valued most by their followers. Zaps are a form of feedback and this is now being robbed from all users on Nostr. We can all still Zap and the value is still there and received, but the feedback functionality of Zaps is now hindered.

Incorrect. If a Damus user Zaps my profile right now instead of this note, I do not get feedback from them that they valued this note. You need to think of the larger picture here. Damus is one of the most popular Nostr clients. It hurts all users of this protocol to have their feedback silenced.
Incorrect. It hurts nobody if everyone abandons apple. The power stays with us if we are brave enough to make the choice. Its not illegal to be gay in Russia but zaps for apple are banned.

I saw Willβs post about how you can sell physical stuff for zaps but not digital. What if damus sends a physical tangible note to the zapper on behalf of the noter. I know I know the postage would be worth more than the zap but they could consolidate notes and send out once per month and charge a subscription to users who want to zap notes directly from Damus. Zappers could put in phony addresses (like Tim apples address!)Not really serious about this but it would be an epic troll π
Actually itβs still able to zap notes with double tap, and it works just fine.
I donβt see an update on damus in my app store for the last month, nor on testflight. I might be using a different version. Making sure auto-update is OFF.

Because they got sucked into a marketing campaign that makes them feel special and like the rest of the world is a forgotten apocalyptic wasteland of disconnected technologies, and they feel like they have to bow down and take it to have nice toys. The amount of very smart people I see who are either afraid to or unwilling to learn to use something that's not even difficult because it involves effort astounds me. It's mass Stockholm Syndrome.
