Yes you are overreacting.

This is my fucking life. I take this very seriously. I want Nostr to win. I work extremely hard every day, morning to night. I neglect my own health because I am trying to get to the next level. This stupid shit took me off course, caused me stress, and forced me to implement negative UX because some loser who ISN'T a foreign government agent decided to attack the network "because he truly cares". Maybe you don't understand me or my life, but I am reacting appropriately based on who I am.
Ok 👍
Better him now, than a foreign government later?
There are other people on here, including in this thread and reading this thread, who are in a similar position, but who are staying completely calm because they saw this coming and were prepared for it.
This was going to happen, sooner or later, and we're actually relieved that it happened sooner and we can deal with it, now. There were some clients and relays who had a lackadaisical attitude toward spam-prevention, who just got caught with their pants down. That hurts all of us, but it's on them. They now have a chance to clean up and improve, before we have millions of people on here and such a circus makes the front page news. Or they can give up and make room for better engineers.
Effective risk mitigation is part of the job.
You shouldn’t be neglecting your health, take care of yourself. There will always be bumps in the road, it’s how we react to them that define us, not “getting to the next level”.
I'm singing Bon Jovi right now. Ugh. 😂
Anyways, could this valid Nostr address only feature be a flag that server admins can enable or disable? Maybe this is already a flag?
I feel this feature is a good spam deterrent right now, but it's more of a band-aid fix since spammers can easily buy a few domain names and implement valid addresses for their bots or they could use existing free providers.
Either way, great work on finding a solution. For community based software packages like yours, this works as all new users of a community have a Nostr address assigned to them, right?
