Sorry, replied in the wrong spot.

I'll write up something after I screw around with it for a while, too, so maybe by the weekend I'll have that ready.

Wow! That looks like an incredible relay for communities!

A community-based WoT inbox relay? YES PLEASE! That alone would be incredible to have, let alone all the other relay types packaged with it...

This seems like HAVEN, but for communities instead of individuals.

I haven't even begun to explore what all can be done with it, but from what I've gathered by watching fiatjaf's in action, it's powerful. I've been so happy with the inbox, after struggling with unstable replies and useless notifications for a few months prior to switching. Everything is consistent and clean now.

The best part of it is how easy it is to set up an instance. I needlessly complicated things by subconsciously thinking there was no way it could be so easy. Even after creating a little mess on setup, i had more struggles with the VPN provider than the software itself, by far (which i think was more related to my choice of provider than anything).

In theory yes, but I just tried and was not authorized with no instructions on how to join. Instructions could be added to the relay description, or if nostr:nprofile1qyd8wumn8ghj7urewfsk66ty9enxjct5dfskvtnrdakj7qg3waehxw309ahx7um5wgh8w6twv5hsqgxzxrkaxn99eqcchaze9tq9dn0rw5va89wqjpxr06suv59c4498zg7evlla wants to keep it exclusive that also works. nostr:nprofile1qyd8wumn8ghj7urewfsk66ty9enxjct5dfskvtnrdakj7qgmwaehxw309aex2mrp0yh8wetnw3jhymnzw33jucm0d5hsqgpm7rrrljungc6q0tuh5hj7ue863q73qlheu4vywtzwhx42a7j9n5zr9h9m does it support invite codes?

This relay is still an evolving idea for me, that started as more of an exercise in "normie" setup & usability. I'll clarify its description once I find a solid direction. Do you want me to add you, so you can get some insight into how it is being used as it evolves? ( nostr:nprofile1qqs8lft0t45k92c78n2zfe6ccvqzhpn977cd3h8wnl579zxhw5dvr9qprfmhxue69uhhq7tjv9kkjepwve5kzar2v9nzucm0d5hszxmhwden5te0w35x2en0wfjhxapwdehhxarjxyhxxmmd9uq3wamnwvaz7tmxwfjkuuewdehhxarjxyhxxmmd9ussnkng said its for the cool kids, if that sways your opinion haha)

I haven't yet looked into how nip-29 groups are set up within a pyramid. I need to give fiatjaf a chance to recover from playing tech support before I get too ambitious with the more complicated features πŸ˜…

If you want to, sure, I already am a member of fiatjaf's pyramid, but it's always good to have more active communities to test stuff out with

Okay, I'll do that as soon as I'm back indoors. I am curious to see how members will utilize this as it grows. wss://relays.land/spatianostra has garnered a decent level of curiosity and active involvement from my social circle, and pyramid brings the opportunity for users to engage directly with relays up another level, so we'll see how it goes. I have a feeling it'll differ from fiatjaf's quite a bit, just because it's different users doing different things. But it will take take some time to get this built up into a proper community.

It supports invite codes. What must I do to give the instructions on how to join?

NIP 29 invite codes or NIP 43 invite codes? Anyhow, I guess that's besides the point, it looks like I can read ok from the relay, except that filters that include any group-related kinds get blocked

I would like to think both, but I'm not sure I did the NIP-29 part yet. NIP-43 I'm sure works.

I imagine it will be difficult to convey a lot of that information through clients, with different ones supporting different features. Maybe the landing page could utilize a secondary description box, so the root user can point back to it from the short description that appears in clients?

"Look here for instructions and a list of what we do" type of thing. If the owner wants their things to grow, they'd need to make it clear & enticing enough to follow links and read, but that is kinda how everything works anyway, right?

I think people currently way under use relay descriptions. You could put a lot of information in there, with links to additional resources. Coracle and flotilla parse them like kind 1s, so you can even quote events, mention people, etc.

I agree, they are definitely underutilized. But honestly, the whole concept of relays as a fun, interesting, useful part of Nostr has just recently started to gain real recognition. I think descriptions will get better as people realize this & let go of the "necessary but cumbersome" framing that's been built up over the previous couple of years. (Exceptions noted & excluded from this statement obviously😊)

Totally, it's also the same problem as running a group in general. Everyone here is a technologist, very few social organizer types around. We need them just as much as the nerds.

πŸ˜‚ I'm pretty sure Macolm Gladwell wrote a book about this.

I bet he did
