Amethyst has auto-upload to imgur. Many other clients do.

Yea, me too, but why not build it by offering some paid features, like hosting the images for you?

Imo it's better to keep clients just clients. Hosting images and other paid services should be done elsewhere (but of course they could be tightly integrated with clients in such a way that users don't see the separation).
That would be a shame. I think Nostr clients have the potential to become the free and competitive alternative to everything apps like WeChat
Nostr clients can very well achieve WeChat-like functionality but imo it's only feasible if they do it by consuming third-party services, otherwise the Nostr client becomes a centralized point of failure. For example, WeChat could never exist in its current form without State blessing. If at any point they don't want to follow State orders then they can be quickly shut down.
It would be bad if one client became an everything app. My hope is that many compete for that role.
Of course. But as we know, division of labor and specialization is key for success. So I see it unlikely to have multiple successful "everything apps" that do all by themselves. I see it far more likely to have multiple providers for specialized tasks and then have multiple "everything apps" that simply bundle those services in a single app.
Yea. I think of it like a Webbrowser. Everything gets implemented in Nostr and clients compete to have the most complete feature set.

Also, amethist lack capabilities to upload video afaik, Nostrid has this well integrated, you can even pick wich service you want to upload files to

Sensible defaults for all media types, selection of multiple providers in the options. It's bound to come.
I also expect multiple paid hosting providers that take are paid with sats, either from splits directly or via paid relays, etc. Makes all the sense in the world.

I think that the most polished vertion of future nostr clients and relays could be pay-to-do style like stacker news, where you send a micro tx for every action.
low spam, 100% noise-to-signal ratio, sustainable buisiness model (hopefully) and all can be automated like you drop some sats in your wallet and you are good to go.

Yeah I'm surprised to not see that share sheet integration very often on Android. I expected it on iOS because none of the native iOS nostr apps (as far as I know) have direct media upload, so share sheet integration would only be useful for sharing a link.
Once more nostr apps on both mobile OS's integrate direct media upload, I expect to see more share sheet integration.
This isn't relevant to your note but gigi is tooth in Indonesian. I live in Bali and just had a wisdom tooth painfully extracted in a2 hour battle today, so seeing your note had an extra layer of pertinence for me. Sorry for the intrusion Gigi, love your work. 🤙

For me it would be nice if I am able to upload a picture in Amethyst at all . In my case pressing the "Upload image" button does nothing. (e-os fairphone)
