I actually think brand is a good word. For accounts like me or you. Derek Ross, jack, marie before she was roger those are identities.
I mean the ID Dan Wedge, my last name shortened, WedgeSocial is my brand. This is the part of me I show the internet.

we can do this with “contacts” on our phones, set pics for people, but can’t do it with our social media apps
if decentralization is giving users more control/power then it might also be used to fight spam, since users could create the pfp and associate it with the npub 🤔

The downside of pet names or a customizable contact list is that if you know someone’s real name, you may accidentally reveal their name to others.

I like being on a first name basis. More personable and eliminates the risk of trying to hide, but I respect each persons preference 🤝

not sure, I don’t need access to the entire contact list. There should be a way to just add data to existing or new contacts.
Afaik contacts on iOS is one permission which is read + write, they’ve only just separated the photos read + write on the iOS 17 beta but I’m not sure if contacts are affected too

Yeh tbh I like the way they’re going, Snapchat is a shit app though which uses permissions so weird so it doesn’t work by default🤣they need to update and use native I think. That app tries to make itself an android app I stg, design language, backend and all
