2-4 player on a medium CRT was kind of ass, but I do have fond memories. It just hit different. Glad I'm in the age group that experienced that.

Yeah but 16 players on 4 medium TVs and 4 xboxes connected with a crappy linksys router, shouting at each other across the same house was amazing.

Speaking of things that got worse:

- the version with English subtitles was diss appeared (but hey, just learn Swedish?)

And things that got better:

- watching Youtube via Wireguard on a transatlantic flight free wifi

for a second I thought you missed lan panties

Me too. We used to drag our PC’s out to the comp sci lab at UBC in the late 90’s where my buddy was a network administrator, and play Quake 4 vs 4 deathmatches on stanford.edu till 4am. At home we were on 28.8 modems but UBC had a T1 line that served the whole campus. Pinging sub 30ms to a server 950 miles away in 1996 was mind blowing. Now I have 3x that bandwidth at home lol.

My last LAN party was my bachelor party. 😭

big same.

Halo and Halo 2. Peak fun.

Battlefield 1942. All night long. Mountains of pizza. πŸ•

Interestingly enough I've never tried them

we still do them.. πŸ˜‡ once or twice a year.

Quake, Starcraft, Flatout2, and more.... awesome games!

but we do it only with 8-16 people.. gaming laptops makes it easy nowadays πŸ˜„

Here you go

😏

There’s a little LAN section at RuneFest

I miss them so bad.
