While this is certainly true, he has also built the most agile company culture and lead those to several achievements previously labeled „impossible“:

-Landing rockets

-EVs that are better than any gas car

-Self Driving in 90% of situations with no premapping nor lidar nor radar.

So yea, he is great at marketing and a lot he does never works out. Yet he achieved more than any single person in history, maybe except Tesla himself.

The impact of iPhone alone is bigger than all his stuff put together by a long margin. Look at your screen time for proof of this fact.

Landing rockets look cool, but there aren’t many big biz models for space. Space tourism market has already flopped. What’s left? A $100pcm ISP?

Tesla’s 2022 free cashflow was $1.4 billion

Apple’s 2022 free cashflow was $112 billion

They are not in the same league.

I like Musk for what he is, but Lynn seems much closer to the mark than Elon being the greatest achiever in human history.

The iPhone is nice, but it’s not a game changer, like landing rockets or self driving cars.

The technology of Tesla’s AI will change the world extremely radically over the next decades. More radical than the internet, almost as radical as Bitcoin.

At least that’s my opinion.

Manufacturing industry is hard. And Elon is innovating in two of the most stagnant industries—and the legacy companies are all eating his dust.

Grok is closed source and requires fiat payment, ie it has total surveillance built-in. That is a very dangerous path for strong AI that Elon should know better about. Like I said, imo, insistence on centralization and surveillance tech, if not his downfall, will be the downfall of humanity into digital slavery. This irony make me disbelieve anything he says regarding his supposed giving a shit about the future of humanity.

I think it’s he’s blind on that side. It’s hard to fully grasp a system that you’re so close to. Cantillionism has built him up, so he cannot really see it in its entirety only specific problems.

Which is imo also why he doesn’t understand money

My understanding of him is that he wants to be in the history books as the guy who made humanity multi-planetary - even if he has to write that book himself. THAT is his only motivation and everything else are means towards it, including right and wrong.
