Nostriches, #[0] is considering leaving Nostr for good. It seems he is having lagging issues with the Amethyst client. Can anyone recommend a good alternative for Android users, a solid/stable client?

We can't have Nostriches leaving because of UX/UI issues, it would be a shame.

Ask him to try nostrgram.co on mobile.

I was having lots of issues but seems fixed on 16.2, do they use play store version? I think that's a few releasees behind.

Yes I'm on the play store version

Play store version is usually 6 hours lagging after GitHub, but it depends on Vitor...

Ah okay that's pretty fast lol

Try Iris.to, there's an app on Play store.

Tried that but for me it wasn't much better

And what features are you missing in either of those?

I'm not missing any features that I'm aware of. The app is just really slow and laggy and keeps crashing. I can't really do much on it without it crashing

Interesting, it hasn't crashed for me yet. My guess would be memory consumption - try killing other apps you have running and reduce number of relays to like 6 or so...

Really. What kind of phone you on? I'm on amethyst and I'm super happy. Runs well. OK its true it can be a bit slow to load sometimes but relays make a big difference there.

Are you on any paid relays? Nostr.wine is a good one.

#[5] #[6] are the dude and dudette behind it.

I'll shout you a subscription if you want to give it a go.

How's your internet connection? Are you using 4G only or have you also tried them on a strong wifi? Same outcome? Your list of relays seems sufficient but on 4G might be tuff as you connect to 17

Iris.to works pretty well for me on Android

I would recommend a glass of chill out!! The important part is the vision and intent of the nostr protocol/community.

If we all expect 100% perfect UX then yeah twitter or other apps may provide a better experience. But what is the real cost??

I liken it to travelling business class on a 3 hour flight. Are humans that weak if we can't handle a little discomfort for a few hrs.

+1.

Tbh, I don't think it's a big deal. People will leave, and they'll come back.

The UI/UX needs to be good enough that people open a client and don't know shit about nostr, just thinking it's *that client*.

Lots of people working on making it happen. Until then, manual tweaks needed to get fast experience. If someone doesn't want to deal with it, just let them go. Relax. Nostr will still win. Real growth. Everyone here wants to be here.

You're probably right. Have you heard of "the theory of the broken window"? Every Nostrich at this early stage is important to me, i guess i may have too much passion.

As usual ☺️

Our job isn’t to convince people to stay. It is to use and build. The underlying premise and architecture are solid. UX will come with time. The need for nostr isn’t going away. People who leave could find their way back when many of kinks are worked out.

I like Amethyst 🤙
