Did everyone else pay their taxes today too? I ran the numbers with my accountant for taxes yesterday, and I owe an obscene amount.

In Genesis, Joseph recommended to Pharaoh that he increase the tax rate to 20% in order to prepare for the coming famine — double what God required of Abraham, Jacob, and Moses. The US government, on the other hand, demands 30%. Do they think they're 3x more necessary than God himself?

Taxation is theft

It’s a repeat crime as well. The government first stole the money through inflation to pay for shit it couldn’t afford otherwise, then stole it again as a tax to pay for servicing its debt that was created by printing more money.

did you lose any bitcoin in boating accidents to offset some gains and tax?

I don't know what it's like in the US but here we pay more than 30%. 30% in income tax rate but every time you use the other 70% you are further taxed. Sales taxes 11%, land taxes, utilities, fuel tax, capital gains tax, luxury vehicle tax, your income tax on your super funds and I'm sure I missed more somewhere. Income tax is the tip of the iceberg.

👀 11% sales tax?! Wow!

Oh yeah, same here, absolutely.

It goes a whole lot higher than 30%

Yeah, fair, I wasn't thinking about all the other taxes

Even base income tax goes up to almost 50% (higher when you include state tax) if you are a high earner

Yes, actually. They do.

I'm not necessarly against paying taxes if:

Reasonnable incomes would be taxed way less Something like 0% tax below a certain income and linearly incressing up to max 15% up to 100k of income per adult in the houshold + some % of 100k per kid depending on the age.

Then increase the percentage faster for every dollar of income above that until a maximum, let's say 70% for 5 millions/adult and above.

Zero or super low tax on wealth up to 1 or 2 millions per adults, then increase the percentage above it.

Zero VAT tax on non-transformed food (meat, fruits, vegetables, weat, milk, egg,...) and maybe some first necessary items.

High(er) taxes on companies, coordinates worldwide, with taxes mostly where their incoming is coming from and with a distance taxes in percentage of how far they are operating/producing/sourcing from compare to the consumer/end user location.

I'm no politican so I can be wrong here and there but I guess would agree on the intention and find a solution to go toward the same direction.
