So if there are bots scraping the cashu invoices we post, how do we use them on here? Is sending them via Nostr contacts safe from that? And if that's the only way why is that better than zapping 🤔

Me neither, really. Cryptography is a pretty opaque topic.
At a basic layer the mint receives sats via lightning, then it can transfer them between users who connect wallets to that mint, which can then be sent out to a lightning wallet. That's pretty simple.
How the privacy preserving part works I'm not so sure.
Its like throwing a physical coin to your friend and someone else catches it. They are working to link them your npub so only you can redeem them.. Yes sending as dm is safe because its encrypted.
