It takes work, but it's definitely worth it to get the exact panel look that I'm going for with any space structures and ships without any stupid rendering artifacts or anything like that.

Oh, how do you mean? Make triangle shapes? Not experimented with that yet but I'm sure it's doable with some vertex tweaking, I'd be a bit wary about it messing with the model topology though.
