Why would the mempool.space accelerator cost over 50,000 sats to boost a transaction to like 15 sat/vB?

I know nothing about it, but I assumed it was for boosting transactions that can't be RBFed, so they have to pay the miners outside of the block to include an accelerated transaction which wouldn't be included normally. I didn't think mempool can alter the actual fee on the transaction that goes into the Blockchain.

I guess I pictured it like doing RBF or CPFP “through” a wallet run by mempool or something, in cases when the user’s wallet doesn’t offer those tools
But are you saying there are some transactions that literally can’t be sped up in those ways? I think I remember nostr:npub1r8l06leee9kjlam0slmky7h8j9zme9ca32erypgqtyu6t2gnhshs3jx5dk mentioning something like this in his ad-read for Mempool. I assumed he meant that a Lightning node couldn’t initiate the RBF, rather than the transaction itself not being eligible.

ya there is wallets that still cant rbf, or instances when there isnt an option to rbf or cpfp. if youve ever been in a situation where you needed to speed up a transaction out of band and tried to use the existing methods...this is extremely cheao and acway easier to use service in comparison.

Another example is a payment sent to you with a way too low fee in a high fee environment and the risk of the transaction being purged from mempools or even being double spent. Depending on the amount you’re receiving and the inactivity/unavailability of the sender, it might be worthwhile to boost that transaction.

Can that only be done from the sending wallet then?
For RBF, yeah and only if the wallet supports doing it. For CPFP, the wallet that is receiving the tx can do it. It’s easy to do CPFP with Sparrow.

Really depends what the tx looks like, but that does seem high.
