LED lights are an abomination.

Total destruction of ambiance.

It is the light of surveillance, the light of interrogation.

The warm glow of incandescence is unmistakably human in hue.

There are things that we should not forsake as technology advances

I'm not saying I don't miss the ambiance. I'm saying replacing the incandescent bulbs is an expensive pain in the ass. I've spent weeks in booms in winter wind, or summer wasps, trying to get corroded bulbs out of sockets and having to wait for more bulbs to come in. It's a bitch.

I hear that. LEDs certainly win on efficiency, I just don’t think we should always seek efficiency. Tradeoffs

You can use the european bulbs in north american sockets. The bulb but will never blow out because they're built for the higher voltage in europe. You need the buy twice the wattage to get the equivalent light.

Yeah, there's a bulb in New York I believe that's been burning since the 1800s. Edison literally engineered them to not last for profit.

I love white light .. yellow is so gloomy .. may be it is weather thing .. growing up in India we hated summer (s) ..winter was always the season of festivities .. in summer ..cold white light feels soothing .. yellow feels like hot sun 🌞 :-)

Wow that’s fascinating. I’m from a place of cold winters so maybe that explains part of it.

Yes .. My kids who are brought up in the west love yellow lights ..me and my wife prefer white :-) ..it is a continuous struggle on the dinner table 😭 .. gave me a chance to dive deeper !

Sodium vapors are expensive

Civilization is expensive

I like halogen and incandescent.

Some LEDs are OK.

The worst ever are fluorescents. We had those in the 70s and 80s in school and the flickering (invisible but there) gives me migraines.

In the winter time we like beeswax candles. Especially early in the morning.

Most LEDs flicker as well. Just too fast to consciously notice. The blue light spike in the emitted spectrum also wrecks your circadian rhythm

2700K LED is fine.

Flicker and blue light spike on the emitted spectrum are not consonant with human biology

Couldn’t agree more. Called and demanded the beautiful orange glow of incandescence for my street lights. It’s so much better. Feels like a lost art, honestly.

Color temperature can be modulated. If you’re talking about the hue, that is.

Noh, hue.

I agree but not because of the color. It's the flickering that's bad. You can even send data over led because of this.

Yea the flicker is terrible
