Yeah. Knowledge is not centralized. You need to send a lot of people back for anything significant to be “invented”.

Even the smartest people won’t be able to figure it out quickly.

With that said, you will probably be able to build a primitive computer. 0/1 type of logic.

gather a lot of wood ash into a large container and add water. the water that filters through is contains lye.

collect fat drippings from animal meat.

combine the fats and lye for saponification. requires stirring so use a big stick.

pour the mixture into molds or a large container to set and cure. this could take about a month so keep track with the phases of the moon.

I hit post too soon.

after curing, cut into smaller blocks and voila, you have soap.

But I think 1000 years back it would be most useful, to share knowledge about the value of hygiene.

For sure one needs to bring at least the knowledge of the scientific method. This one alone written on a piece of paper and shared with cloisters and whatever people, that have the ability to read, would change the world big times I assume.

One of the biggest hurdles would maby be, to share your knowledge without being identified as magician or witch. Since I do not assume that any king or people of nobility would accept superior knowledge being spread in any other way, then through them.

Abacus good enough get them on the right track early....

c'mon bro 😅

Yes, we'd all mainly be the raving lunatic saying "trust me bro, I could send messages across the planet on a small metal and glass slab, and I could fly across the planet too for that matter, in a giant winged chariot"

Soap has been around for at least 4000 years though.

Your priority would probably be to help them figure out the small pox vaccine, boiling water before drinking it (although beer did the trick), and then maybe see if you can figure out a steam engine from first principles. Assuming you were able to communicate "please don't burn me at the stake" in whatever ancient form of English they spoke.
