Bitcoin price doesn't affect zap size because zaps are the only thing in the Bitcoin ecosystem that aren't priced in fiat.

Even on-chain transaction fees are priced in fiat.

They're priced in sats/vb. The fiat price is irrelevant but given anyway. If fees were actually priced in fiat you would select a fiat value when you set up a transaction instead of sats/vb.

Transaction fees are correlated to fiat price because that's what people are willing to pay. It's not strongly correlated but it is.

A 21 sat zap will remain a 21 sat zap for the time being :)

I see what you mean. I don't really pay attention to the fiat cost of on chain. My main concern is the % of the amount I'm sending that I lose to fees.

Weird how as the value of the bitcoin goes up, so too does my generosity

Tbh, I don't much look at the $ cost of fees.. But how many SATs an on chain tx will cost me

I have been thinking about this problem myself a lot lately, it’s actually very difficult to price *anything* in Sats, even Bitcoin native products or services– as the fiat value of bitcoin rises, people are naturally less willing to part with an equal amount of sats for the same product or service than they were before.
