When I was young like many of you, I felt hatred towards religion and I was also an innocent idiot who swallowed the farce of communism, today despite not being a believer, or not being a believer at least in a conventional way, I understand the difference between religion as a culture and identity, and the institutions that take over religion like the Catholic church.

Religious institutions are not very different from government, in fact, they live side by side with it, like large corporations.

But religion as a culture is something else, which in my view has to be respected whatever the religion. Belief is very powerful, belief can move mountains, the Bitcoin community has many similarities with a religion, do not underestimate the power of faith.

And in my opinion, if Jesus Christ existed today, it would be Satoshi Nakamoto.

I love this take. I encourage you to read the Bible, especially starting with the New Testament.

The parallels with your comment about ‘faith, believe’ and the corrupt institution of religion (the Pharisee) against Jesus is incredible.

The Bible is a timeless book of well documented history. Whether you choose to “believe” it is the inherent word of God is up to you. I happen to have read it and do believe that.

I have read the bible, that is why I believe that Jesus is a good example and that he was a revolutionary and if he woke up he would destroy everything that has been built around him to enrich a few.

If I believe in the existence of Jesus, obviously it is undeniable given all the historical data we have and his influence, another thing is to think that he was God, but nevertheless he was a very brave man who fought against nothing less than against Rome.

A truth teller not fond of the Bankers.

I don’t disagree to a large extend. Everything is susceptible to cooption including Bitcoin. When Jesus returns he will tear down the mega churches that take advantage of the poor and ignorant for money and power, while teaching false messages. (Much like he drove out the money changers in the temple) That was also one of the few instances in the Bible where Jesus demonstrates actionable physical anger.

Actually Jesus ended up being more against the Jewish institution of region.

I encourage you to listen to this recent message from my church about the deity of Jesus. He was in complete control the whole time. The actually message is from 25 minutes to about 1 hour.

Watching Jordan Peterson's Maps of meaning lectures was instrumental in helping me understand that religion is as much a path towards liberty and freedom as it is towards tyrrany and control.

I respect faith and beliefs but Bitcoin is a payment system, not a religion or dogma. It was a contribution to the path of constant progress and innovation of science and technology. Any interpretation outside the technical or some of the opinions expressed in the technical document ..They are up to each individual. Satoshi is not God or anyone's Messiah, the code will set you free. !!

To fight against the system is not enough with the code, you must have faith and discipline, I am neither the first nor the last to compare Bitcoin with a religion, that's not bad 🙏.

Couldn't agree with you more! Spent years in the institution of religion which is oppressive like any institution which feels they have the right to make decisions for you.

Autonomy is the antithesis of governments and religions, I think Jesus was the first cypherpunk to point this out. He even mentioned crypto when speaking to the money changers at the temple (yes shitcoins existed then too). Anyone who stands for radical individual freedom like Jesus is a friend of mine.

I love the vibe of this narrative. Nice thinking 🫡
