I knew absolutely nothing about lightning before Nostr, and kind of did not trust it
I started getting into lightning in 2021 and although there are a lot of lightning users on Twitter, that was a very common thing I heard about not trusting it and just simply not knowing how to use it. Here you kind of have to learn at least enough about it to make and receive a payment, and then that naturally leads to learning about LNURL, Lightning address, custodial vs non-custodial wallets, fees, maybe even running your own node and opening channels, etc. It’s incredible.

I don’t have amethyst but I do switch between several apps on iOS and the web. But Damus still shows zaps on a note that are sent from users on other clients, but it’s basically a read-only view. I’ll zap your note here and you should see it listed on your note in Damus
