You can explore nostr like Twitter on any of the “clients” (apps). Damus (iOS), primal, amethyst (android), snort and many others.
You can live stream if you like at zap.stream or watch streams in amethyst, nostrudel or zap.stream.
You can search and follow hashtags (we don’t have algos yet)
You can set your a lightning wallet and “zap” people - earn money and spend money.
You can start and join communities (amethyst, satellite.earth)
I mostly hang out on Damus and Snort and zap.stream
Thanks so much for this! Snort wasn't showing me anything and when I changed to categories like the trending ones, it was taking ages to load (or not loading). I've landed on satellite.earth and primal at the moment and that seems alright. I'm a bit confused by the relay thing. Should I be getting more or just using the default?

Default is a good starting point.
Relays are basically servers you can send notes to and retrieve from.
There are many to avoid a central point of authority. But you can explore them on your own over time.
One thing you can do is look at what relays other people use and add them to your list. You don’t need many. 8-12 is good but even less is fine.
Find a user you trust and copy their relay list. You can fine tune it later. Try a few clients (apps) and see which one works for you. Post notes and engage with people. Ask lots of questions and revel in the fact that you are the curator of your experience. You are in full control! Welcome!
