If it is not observable or repeatable it is not science. This is a new age religion which you guys are believing solely on faitj

Ok.

What’s your theory?

No I'm sorry that is simply not true. Science is a process of generating theories that have hypotheses that we can test. If we make observations that are inconsistent with the hypotheses then we know the theory is invalid.

i.e. We know for a fact that general relativity and quantum field theory are mutually exclusive, and therefor "wrong". But until we come up with a theory that unifies them they are usefully "wrong" and so we keep them.

The keyword in ypur response is test. Through observations and repeatable experiments. You can't do that with something that allegedly happened billions of years ago like the big bang

We can and absolutely do.

You can't and absolutely do not, at best you make estimated guesses which can never be conclusively proven because nobody observed the big bang and nobody has successfully repeated the creation of a universe through a "big bang". It is a pseudoscience and quasi religious because you blindly believe it with out any proof of its truth.

I don't "believe". There is a current best theory and the second it's invalidated I'll focus on the next best theory.

You don't understand science. When you collect some basic knowledge come back and talk with the adults.

But we don't "believe" anything. Science is a process of approximating truth by repeatedly testing and invalidating theories and asymptotically we get closer and closer to "truth".

We can and do create theories about the early universe and make observations that are either consistent or inconsistent (and invalidate our theories.) That IS science.

You believe the bog bang happened billions of years ago which is not observable or repeatable

The big bang is just a theory and could be invalidated. I don't "believe" anything but simply follow the best theories we have at the time.

God could show up this afternoon and announce to the world that he created all of this last Thursday. And we would then dismiss the big bang theory and start building theories about what God is, and where he came from.

But that hasn't happened.

It’s pointless for me to argue with a deeply religious person about science, because it always reveals that they assume everyone “believes” as strongly as they do about scientific theories. I no more “believe” in science than I “believe” in bitcoin. What I try to do is understand what might be happening and use that information to make informed opinions, which are subject to change with new information.

Yes, it’s much easier to simply accept every word in one of many versions of a book written by human hand on the dried skins of animals as the only possible truth.

An actual scientist would just concede we don't know how the universe was created, instead of clinging to a pseudoscientific quasi religious belief system based on unobservable and unrepeatable theories which can never be proven

Again, you don’t seem to understand the difference between science and religion. Scientists don’t concede, they experiment in search of answers, even if it takes multiple lifetimes. Religions concede and cling to ideas that can never be proven.

No, you don't understand science. Science proves its facts through observation and repeatable experiments. You believe something blindly with full faith, which is neither observable or repeatable through any experiment. You are the religious one.

Okay. 😉

Science disproves. You can't prove a negative. Man come on. This is simple shit and you sound fucking dumb.

Problem solved.

Fair. I block bots but not usually people.

I'll stop fighting on your post though 🤙

I rarely mute people, except when the conversation is indistinguishable from one with a bot. This dude is programmed, he’s just going to say the same things over and over and has no capacity or desire to learn.

No I appreciate the short circuit, my friend. It's not my best quality but I'll fall into fights with people like that and it just doesn't benefit anyone.

I didn’t come here to argue, and when the Jesus freaks show up in my replies I find it’s mentally healthier to simply disengage than waste hours going back and forth.

😂😂

What you’re missing here is that the very ability to do science rests upon a prior assumptions that are philosophical in nature.

The Bog Bang, another reason it is inadvisable to go to Florida.

sorry, I had to. that's where my brain immediately went. y'all can resume your intellectual talk now.

I'll see myself out 👋
