no info, much confusion. Did someone trust the wrong bot again?

Real frens interacting with fake girl npubs ruin web of trust bc the more they interact with them the more legitimacy they give them, itβs like youβre vouching for this npub by actively engaging with them. Now your following thinks this person is trust worthy bc they trust you.
But they donβt know you just trusted blindly, and now the blind is leading the blind.
Web of trust only works if each individual decides and verifies for themselves upon each interaction moving forward. Kinda like a daily best practice.
Especially on nostr as we are mostly anons and npubs
chances of succeeding if thatβs the case is super low wouldnβt you say? I agree with you Iβm just saying itβs nearly 1% chance of success rate bc nobody will do the work, itβs kinda been the track record here.. as you can see nobody called the anna scammer out n it engrained itself in our community n now itβs that much harder to get it out.. this will happen again n again
I see nostr:npub1jk9h2jsa8hjmtm9qlcca942473gnyhuynz5rmgve0dlu6hpeazxqc3lqz7 doing work out here π₯ππ€β‘οΈ
This is literally the last thing I wanna do on here, I just wanna post memes n shitposts but itβs kinda like if you see it and it doesnβt sit right with you, you dig n find all the bs you gotta air it out n let others know, bc thatβs what I expect of others to do for me if Iβm the one being taken advantage of.. our kindness is our weakness at times but it shouldnβt be π«

You can only preach so much and you have to let people figure it out, and eventually they will learn. Then again, some people donβt mind sticking their dick in a glory hole as long as itβs judgment free on the other side of the wall π
Figuring it out isnβt peopleβs strong suit here π€£ this npub has ran wild for so long that now itβs engrained into the community n harder to get rid of, this problem will get so big that itβll be beyond us if we leave it to people to figure it out lmaoo
At some point, I made the decision that "influencer" accounts were a no go. They are more than likely a fake account. If they are real, they don't contribute in any meaningful way, just cheerleaders making an easy dollar being pretty.
Being "influenced" is just marketing propaganda, anyways.
What do you think is the long-term harm, though?
From my experience, people come to Nostr because they want real social engagement with people they have something in common with. Nostr is generally a very friendly and welcoming space where people help each other and let their guard down a bit so they can be themselves and have a laugh.
Yeah, pretty convincing fake accounts will take advantage of that. Fake female accounts will get a bunch of zaps, for a bit. But, unless they are pulling some big scam - I'm not aware of any - the damage is minimal. Sooner or later they will be found out. Sincerity is hard to fake for an extended period of time.
I have gut feelings about accounts, but generally I give them the benefit of the doubt until the evidence becomes clear. When it does, I don't get mad at myslf or anyone else for not seeing it earlier.
I don't know if we can keep what we love about Nostr alive, if we treat new accounts with open suspicion and are all on guard making it hard to be welcoming.
That being said, we do need to watch out for each other. Call it like you see it. I think, luckily, the small technology barrier with Nostr onboarding works in our favor as a filter in this regard.
