#value4value is a crap concept.

The value is created the second you express yourself. It’s the ability to express yourself. Nothing else.

If you’re expecting rewards beyond that you’ve come to the wrong place. Sats for AI pics and bitcoin merch ain’t a business model. Sorry not sorry.

„But we need to earn money to keep the lights running.“

No. You don’t.

It’s not for everyone that’s for sure.

Exactly. That's why I drastically changed my mind about it. If it doesn't work for everybody, it doesn't work.

And if it works for some?

The result is a producer/consumer split that always kills social media in the long run.

There will always be a split between consumer and producer. We can’t all be both all the time with everything.

Then media will always fail including nostr

On a long enough timeline, everything fails.

That's a truism, so who am I to disagree.

However, some things fail faster than others because their setup was bad to begin with.

That's exactly what happens when you allow the consumer/producer dichotomy in communication dynamics.

You're right, it exists and always will, but that doesn't mean you have to push it all the way in social media design decisions.

We need smarter trade-offs here.

I see a lot of potential for individuals to get value back from their broadcasted content if they do it on nostr.

It’s still early, but it’s happening already. Maybe we’re not seeing the same content. Or maybe we spend our sats differently but I do v4v often. 4 times a week at least.

It's not about the quality of the content or the ability to send money to someone whose content I like.

It's about making too strong a connection between them.

If we can avoid that, nostr would benefit immensely in its sustainable growth.
