When did downloading a new app become a big burden/big friction?

Somehow I feel in my circles, that people are less open to tinker with new application, at least compared to previous times.

Maybe this is because of the overwhelming amount of shitty apps?

Because megacorps built shitty walls around personal and community modification of and maintenance of software (what they call "apps").

We're going to destroy their model.

We shall will the neighborhood software repairman into existence.
