When did downloading a new app become a big burden/big friction?

Somehow I feel in my circles, that people are less open to tinker with new application, at least compared to previous times.

Maybe this is because of the overwhelming amount of shitty apps?

low expectations, group think easy mode, indolence, the usual

I think it was different when smart phones were the new thing. People seemed to be more open.

Can it be because we are constantly bombarded with ads, that we developed in the last 10 years, your mentioned things but as a defence mechanism?

they were the same back then. early adopters aren't the general public. and sometimes (often) open people become closed in time, it's easier.

a human flaw is to copy everyone else because it's easier. no imagination required.

oops did i just say that out loud

🙈🙉🙊

My friends were definitely different. But it could also happen due to age. Everyone age differently.

yep

most become closed

the open ones shine like the 🌞, notice them

Could be also time preference. They reached a different phase in life, where they have to concentrate on a different part of life.

it's a lot of factors. we could go on and on 😂

but you've noticed it, now notice why and how individually it affects each one.

Something smart about factor 3. Mentioning gently factor 4.

"Some smart quote"

Closing with a summary.

😂😂

people on here that I like regularly express these points in their own words, which is the best way. personal experience trumps intellectualization. questioning like you are doing leads to understanding, don't stop.

Thanks nostr:npub16jad3sjdf0hynxhmpzpsuuwazqlxrcq824kjpw3w7wr8ldt3xm0q0zq4nn I also think a great question already have half of the answer, so we have to learn to ask better questions to improve.

I guess individually understanding people's situation could help to see, where these solutions can enhance their lives.

trying to enhance a life of a person who isn't interested is probably futile and potentially harmful. no matter what our intention is.

you're fun to interact with BTW 😜

It's also hard.

Because if you want to live a more private life e.g., you have 2 choice:

- use the bad tools your friends use,

- somehow guide them to use more secure and private apps

I mean if you want to interact with them, you have to meet somewhere. In the app they use, or in the app you use.

mmm

why be attached to friends? people come and go. as we get older we change and others we know change and naturally drift apart.

(the following is very common to recite before morning Zazen and inarguable, we have been talking around the 4th one this morning)

The Five Remembrances

1 I am of the nature to grow old. There is no way to escape growing old.

2 I am of the nature to have ill health. There is no way to escape having ill health.

3 I am of the nature to die. There is no way to escape death

4 All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature to change. There is no way to escape being separated from them.

5 My actions are my only true belongings. I cannot escape the consequences of my actions. My actions are the ground upon which I stand.

why not interact in person or on the phone? those are much more intimate.

I think phone lines are not encrypted or?

In person is a good idea.

also

time and family isn't a given to close people, I know open and closed people of every personalsituation.

it's a mystery. and it's fun to explore it , because the journey of why is unending even after we are dead.

Because megacorps built shitty walls around personal and community modification of and maintenance of software (what they call "apps").

We're going to destroy their model.

We shall will the neighborhood software repairman into existence.

People don't want to do anything unless the internet tells them to do it.

The only thing stopping me from installing the next shiny thing has always been disgust for mainstream.

Facebook, no. Until someone made me do it.

Instagram, no. Until someone told me that they were posting there and I had to join to connect.

Twitter, I did it because of Bitcoin, got off asap.

Reddit. Lurked forever before joining.

Others, they like the shiny stuff and want to feel like they are popular. They follow the crowd, but they don't follow real people, real people are boring.

"Don't make me install an app just for the sake of it, use the thing everyone else is using."

Thats how I see it.
