For me with Covid, mint, lavender, β€œsoapiness” and garlic were among the last scents to leave and first to come back. Try smelling them every day to see if you can detect them at all.

The first scent to leave and last to come back is ginger. When I can smell ginger again I know all my sense of smell has returned.

I tried mint. Definitely can’t smell it. I’ll check on the rest. I also have ginger so I can try that.

Apparently that's the strongest smell to the human nose

When I had the flu I could just smell it couldn't smell vicks which is a v strong eucalyptus gel, it stinks and I couldn't smell it

How long did it take for them to start coming back?

It was different each time I was sick. My first time with Covid it took a long time, at least two weeks, maybe as long as a month, can’t remember. The second time it was only about a week of loss, and the third time a few days.

My mum lost smell after some flu and it took years to get it back and I understand it never got back fully :(
