For me with Covid, mint, lavender, โsoapinessโ and garlic were among the last scents to leave and first to come back. Try smelling them every day to see if you can detect them at all.
The first scent to leave and last to come back is ginger. When I can smell ginger again I know all my sense of smell has returned.
I tried mint. Definitely canโt smell it. Iโll check on the rest. I also have ginger so I can try that.
Apparently that's the strongest smell to the human nose
When I had the flu I could just smell it couldn't smell vicks which is a v strong eucalyptus gel, it stinks and I couldn't smell it
How long did it take for them to start coming back?
It was different each time I was sick. My first time with Covid it took a long time, at least two weeks, maybe as long as a month, canโt remember. The second time it was only about a week of loss, and the third time a few days.
My mum lost smell after some flu and it took years to get it back and I understand it never got back fully :(

Yeah thatโs gone ๐คฃ
The interesting thing about smell loss with Covid is itโs not based on the strength of the smell. You arenโt losing it because youโre congested and scents canโt get through; your olfactory nerves are basically getting stunned (and in extreme cases, killed).
So itโs not a strong vs. weak smell issue, but a chemical by chemical issue whether you can smell it or not.
True.
