So I went back to the place where I got 2 of the workers on WoS and added them to #TipChain

I shit you not, they both bombarded me with questions today:

• The guy I posted 2nd said he listened to a few episodes of the podcast, signed up with SwanBitcoin and that his Fold card is on the way.

• Then the lady who’s address I shared first said there’s now $154 worth in her WoS, asked me how to use it and then asked about #Nostr

• I reminded them again that WoS was custodial and that I would show them a quick way to hold their own keys the next time I’m in there.

This is why tipping people in sats and onboarding the simplest way possible wins. When there’s an instant onboard + LSP + address/BOLT12 way to do this same thing, this will be next level.

Tipping in sats and onboarding in the simplest way wins. Custodial lightning isnt some existential threat to lightning or nostr. It's just a tool that exists in the moment, because there isnt anything easier out there.

That's some incredible orange pilling right there. Great work! 🔥

I attempted to orange pill a friend last night over some beers. He was very interested and wants to talk again when beers aren't involved so he can fully understand what I was explaining. 🤙🏻

I get this reply sometimes from friends that I try to onboard. It's hard not to give the snarky reply that "You don't understand how the banking system really works either, but you have no problem using a system created by those habitual criminals." Best to stay on the positive side I suppose...

Always be positive. Everyone learns at different rates.

Love to see this, nice job!

Yes 🙌

I had a long conversation with my buddy who grew up in Dominica. He made a good point; savings is a western privilege people in developing countries and many don’t have all basic necessities and can’t even think about saving until they get their basic necessities.

At the end of the call we agreed the “bitcoin is savings” narrative needs to evolve into earn bitcoin. People in developing countries need to earn before they can even think about saving.

Going to try to record a podcast on the matter, who would be interested in this?!

What a word salad 🥗 should’ve drank my coffee before posting 😂

For people in developed countries where money “works” the Bitcoin is savings narrative prevails. In developing countries, a different narrative prevails. I like “earn” seems like it is widely applicable. 👍

We are going to put up a little web in the coming days to drive this point home.

Nostr, a new way to earn.

Bitcoin/lightning is great for remittances as well.

The conversation goes much further. Before we started discussing “bitcoin is savings” I was trying to purple pill my friend. He told me he was trying to go back to his original roots and be completely disconnected from the Internet and he asked me, why would people who are not on the Internet want to join Nostr? He mentioned people in Dominica aren’t on social media or the internet really. When I told him Nostr is a new way for people to earn, it immediately clicked for him and he said he would look into Nostr after initially brushing it off.

In my opinion Nostr is the tool we needed to be able to onboard the next billion people and eventually everyone who is currently offline to the internet.

Super Bullish on Nostr!

Love it. And to be frank, starting custodial and loosing access to a small amount of funds is an extremely compelling way to begin thinking about proper key storage. We will all need that lesson to understand the gravity
